Equal Access to Digital Learning - Anderston Primary School, Glasgow

What did you do?

Parents at Anderston Primary School in Glasgow raised funds to purchase a class set of tablets for pupil use. This is particularly important in Anderston where not all children have access to technology in the home.

The pupils have been using the tablets for literacy, numeracy and project work. We wanted parents to know what their hard-earned donations were spent on and how this technology can aid learning.

At parents' night, we plan to demonstrate the sites pupils have been working on and show parents how they could access these at home or through our community resources. We will also introduce parents to our new easy to navigate parent website where they can see class blogs as well get up-to-date information about school activities.

In a coordinated approach to getting parents' views, the Partnership Action Team, made up of staff and parents, drew up a questionnaire for parents to complete on the tablets. The information we collect will be used to inform how we communicate with parents as well as feeding into our School Improvement Plan.
